Audiobooks are a great options for eager new readers and young bookworms alike.  Audiobooks can be a fantastic resource for children, offering numerous benefits for their development and enjoyment of stories. They can improve listening skills, vocabulary, comprehension, and even spark a love for reading.

One screen-free audiobook option is Yoto – an audio player that brings focus and imagination to busy little minds.  The Fort Smith Public Library now has Yoto Minis that you can borrow while you visit the Youth Services Department.  Want to take the fun home?  The library also has over 40 Yoto cards that you can check out and enjoy at home for up to 2 weeks.  These cards can be played using any Yoto Player or a smartphone with NFC (near-field communication) capability. You can check out up to 6 Yoto Cards at a time with your library card.  Yoto Players and Yoto Cards are perfect for listening on the go or even on the slow – like when kiddos are getting ready for bedtime.
