Chester Nez was a boy who was told to give up his Navajo roots. He became a man who used his native language to help America to victory in World War II. Author Joseph Bruchac tells the story of his life in this book, Chester Nez and the Unbreakable Code - A Navajo Code Talker's Story. Illustrated by Liz Amini-Holmes and published by Albert Whitman & Company, this book is nominated for the Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award. Will it get YOUR vote?

The Arkansas Diamond Primary Book Award is designed to encourage reading for students in Kindergarten through third grade.  Students read and/or listen to at least three titles from the nominated books and vote for their favorite book in the spring.  The award is coordinated by the Arkansas State Library
