Program Description

The paintings of Arkansas artist Anna Sue Wilcox will be on exhibit in the Community Room of the Main library from March 1 – April 24. Since childhood her dream was to be an artist whose focus would be people. Anna works in oils because of the sheer pleasure of it: loving the smell, the feel, the versatility. The artist had her first show while stationed in Germany; she also started doing commissioned work there and still continues to do commissioned portraits. The human experience is deeply stirring and she has a strong desire is to convey that emotion to the viewer. There is no greater satisfaction than to know that a connection has been made between the painting and the individual experiencing it. Exploring the relationships of light and water, light and people (and water!), contrast, texture and atmosphere is a never-ending challenge and delight. The work of Anna Sue Wilcox can be found in collections throughout the United States and Europe. "Uncle Sam gave me opportunity, living has given me people, but God is the One who gives my work life. I am eternally grateful."  Artwork is available for viewing all library hours when meetings are not being held in the Community Room.
