Program Description

The Genealogy Department at the Fort Smith Public Library is offering an immersive 360-degree experience that allows participants to use virtual reality technology to hear firsthand stories from Holocaust survivors - told in the very places where their histories unfolded, including their hometowns and concentration camps. This is a powerful educational experience that fosters empathy and historical awareness, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Created by the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center in collaboration with East City Films, The Journey Back is made possible through the generous support of Diane C. Hunter. The Genealogy Department is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Free, and no library card required.  This experience is recommended for those ages 12 and up.
