Program Description

Hey kids!  Are you ready to read (and listen!) for fun, points, and prizes?  Sign up online, and read, read, READ!  Every minute you spend reading (or listening!) is worth one point.  EARN 1000 points and win A LIBRARY PRIZE BAG filled with goodies!  Readers and listeners will also be entered to win an end-of-summer GRAND PRIZE! The more you read, the more chances you'll have to win!  Track your reading progress, complete missions, and earn badges by signing up at https://fortsmithlibrary.readsquared.com/ . There's even a READsquared app (available for iOS and Android devices) to download!  Thanks to the Arkansas State Library for providing the funding for READsquared with the CARES Act.

The children's Summer Reading Program encourages reading for pleasure and is designed to minimize summer learning loss.  The Summer Reading Program keeps kids actively engaged in reading while encouraging family involvement at the same time.  Preschool children too young to read independently can also participate.  Because the best way to raise a reader is to read to a child, they will receive points for the time spent listening to books. The Summer Reading Program is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Arkansas State Library under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.  Additional summer reading funding is provided by the Friends of the Library.
