
Duties include planning and presenting programs for young adults, training staff on resources and services to young adults, working with the Teen Advisory Council, preparing booklists and displays, selecting materials for young adults, providing reader's advisory and reference services, and promoting awareness of the activities of the Youth Services Department. This position also includes general duties in the Youth Services Department, including circulation and basic reference services for all ages, helping children and teens with computers, shelving and shelf-reading, and assisting with department programs.
This individual must possess a positive, friendly attitude and eagerness to assist customers. Must have a passion for working with young people, especially teens. Must be a quick learner with excellent organizational skills, a team player, reliable, and punctual, with the ability to stay on task, be attentive to details, and finish projects in a timely manner.
Must have experience with and appreciation of individuals of diverse cultures and ages. Must be computer literate. Must have knowledge and experience with young adult literature and technology used by teens including blogs, social networking, digital music, gaming, and similar technologies.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college OR college coursework with at least two years of library experience required. Demonstrated experience working with teens required.
Salary begins at $22,000/year plus health insurance, paid holidays, and paid retirement.
