New! Downloadable Audiobooks @ FSPL!

Library2Go Now Has Ebooks for the Kindle!
(We STILL have other downloadable Ebooks and Audiobooks and music and even a few videos)

Library statistics indicate to us that you have been checking out the Downloadable Audiobooks that have been available from the Fort Smith Public Library and our thirteen consortial partners for the past couple of years. With YOUR FSPL Library card, you have been downloading audiobooks to your home PC (for listening on your computer or a digital audio device or, in some cases, on a CD) -- and feedback from our customers indicate that you have been downloading, listening, AND enjoying them!

The Fort Smith Public Library is pleased to be able to announce that you can now download ebooks to your computers and/or portable devices, including the Kindle from Amazon!! Overdrive now lists many more compatible devices! In addition, Overdrive has developed new applications ("apps") for iTunes enabling you to wirelessly download MP3 and WMA audiobooks and EPub eBooks (but NOT PDF eBooks) directly to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This means that you can now listen to audiobooks and also read eBooks on these Apple devices. If you would like the iTunes app, just search for "OverDrive Media Console" in the Apple App Store...and like all OverDrive downloads, this app is free.

There are now a few videos available for download to your computer that we think you will enjoy...PLUS some music downloads for your PC and non-Apple portable devices. In addition, there are over 15,000 additional books in the public domain that are available for download and these do not count against your total check-outs. These additional ebooks from the public domain are a part of Project Gutenberg and are well worth checking out.

    New! TumbleBooks Library @ FSPL!

    What is the TumbleBook Library?

    The TumbleBook Library is a fun and interactive library of animated, talking story books for preschoolers, beginner readers and older independent readers. Read along and listen, or read on your own. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing story books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic (e-book) story book. TumbleBooks will help teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love!

    Our TumbleBook Library is a collection of:

  • Story Books – entertaining and amusing picture story books to listen to, or read on your own.
  • Tumble Readers – large print Read-On-Your-Own story, chapter and teen books.
  • Life Learning – books that teach kids about important social and health issues in a fun, educational manner.
  • Puzzles & Games – jigsaw puzzles, word fun, memory games and more to play after reading a book!
  • Language Learning – read a growing collection of Spanish, French, Russian and Chinese original story books, or translations of English story books.
  • Audio Books – listen to tales of Aesop’s, fairy tales, and classics such as Black Beauty, Winnie-the-Pooh, and more.
  • Index – A-Z listing of the all story books in the TumbleBook Library.
